It’s highly likely that your digital marketing strategy includes social media ads to build your audience, improve brand awareness and generate leads. With Facebook still firmly in the lead as the world’s most used social platform, it’s a critical component to building effective campaigns. It’s even more critical to use the tools and options available to their fullest. To help you get the most out of your marketing, we wanted to share some tips and tricks to maximize Facebook ROI.
Use Stories
Facebook Stories has become a very popular area of the platform, with many now choosing it over the traditional Newsfeed. If your audience is here, you need to be too, so consider shifting your ads to Stories instead. Keep backgrounds dark to avoid overpowering your viewer with backlight. Keep messaging emotionally appealing but definitely on the lighter side – think fun, fresh and real!
Caption Videos
85% of video viewers watch with the sound off so using captions is a no-brainer, especially with Facebook’s automatic caption tool. When you upload a video to Facebook Ad Manager, choose the Edit option and you’ll find the tool to generate captions on your video. We’ve found it to be about 95% accurate, so it’s a huge time saver, but you’ll want to be careful to check the captions closely. It’s most likely to get names incorrect so a quick read through will have you looking crisp and professional in no time.
The same goes for your Stories, so don’t forget to caption those as well!
Generate More Video Views
A great trick to maximize video views is to social proof them before you promote them. People are more likely to engage with a Sponsored post when they see “social proof” in the form of previous likes, shares and comments. By uploading a video to Stories ahead of an ad, you can gain initial traction and Facebook allows you to convert that traction to the ad to maintain its credibility and encourage more views.
Maximize Lead Forms
We typically see lead forms not being used enough or being used incorrectly. Any time you are putting out an ad for lead generation, you’ll want to include a Call to Action that pushes to a lead form. Lead forms will help you to build your email list, get warm leads and start engagement with customers who are truly interested in your offering, but it’s important to use the forms well to weed out poor leads. The best way to do this is to ask qualifying questions on your forms. One or two questions is plenty, it’s just a great way to weed out those who are not interested enough to take the time to fill in those questions.
Get On Marketplace
Where applicable, Marketplace is a great way to stand out to buyers who already have intent to purchase products like yours so it’s important to show up here when they are looking. Though this is a bit more laid back of an area, we highly recommend treating these posts the same as your website, using quality images and keeping things professional.
Retarget Contacts & Lookalike Audiences
Last, but certainly not least, is Facebook’s retargeting/lookalike audience feature, which is extremely helpful and efficient.
Facebook has an extensive set of data on all of its users. Leverage this data by uploading mailing lists, lists of contacts you have currently interacted with or those you would like to retarget. Facebook will match them and can also create a lookalike audience of people with similar interests and attributes. Serve your ad to this audience specifically and you can be sure you’re reaching those who have shown interest in past and others who are most likely to purchase from you.
While these tips & tricks are top of mind and relevant right now, it’s important to note that Facebook makes changes on an almost daily basis at times, making it necessary to keep on top of updates.
